PeachPay also makes it easy for freelancers to sell and market with each of their easy to use products, such as booking a call, invoicing, digital goods, and PayMe pages.

Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader to join our dedicated team at PeachPay. As the Director of Engineering and Architect, you will be a point person on driving execution, technical leadership, people development, recruiting top-level talent as well as hands-on development work.

Responsibilities

  1. Drive great execution, work with the team to set clear goals, and effectively deliver the set goals.
  2. Recruit, inspire, and develop a high performing and creative engineering team.
  3. Be an effective manager who can help engineers hands on.
  4. Operate agile development best practices in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Champion engineering excellence and culture, establishing metrics for regular assessment/improvement.
  6. Determining project requirements and developing work schedules for the team.
  7. Liaising with team members and management to ensure tasks are completed up to standard.
  8. Motivating team members and creating a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns.
  9. Keeping up-to-date with industry best practices and developments.
  10. Being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.

Requirements and skills

  1. Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  2. Overall technical experience 7+ years.
  3. 4 years of Ruby on Rails experience.
  4. At least 2 years of experience as tech lead or engineering manager.
  5. Experience with Javascript frameworks such as VueJS or React.
  6. Experience with SQL and database design.
  7. Experience running the day-to-day agile/scrum process for an engineering team.
  8. Hands-on experience architecting, developing, deploying, and maintaining web applications, including system administration, monitoring, log management, and support.
  9. Excellent communication skills, and the flexibility that is needed for working in a small, distributed team.
  10. Excel at code review processes.
  11. Experience with system performance investigation and optimization.
  12. Expertise with 50% management, 40% technical design, and 10% production code.
