Backend Engineer (NestJS)

• 5+ years of professional experience with NestJS in production systems
• Proven track record applying modular architecture (DDD, hexagonal, ports and adapters, onion architecture, …)
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript and API development with OpenAPI/Swagger
• Experience with PostgreSQL databases and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with Kafka for event streaming/messaging
• Containerization and DevOps skills with Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Solid understanding of automated testing and CI/CD workflows
• Daily development experience and interest in using AI-assisted development environments like Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, …
• Security awareness (GDPR-compliant data handling, OAuth2 a plus)

Nice to Have

• Experience with React frontend development, ideally with Shadcn UI components
• Experience with AI/LLM backends or integrations
• Background in GovTech / public sector IT

Responsibilities

• Work across two core projects:
  – Sports Facilities Management Platform
• Lead and contribute to the migration from a legacy tech stack to a modern architecture
• Design and implement new backend features and services
• Improve system scalability, maintainability, and performance
  – AI-Driven Scoring & Configuration Platform
• Build and enhance backend services that support AI-driven processes
• Improve and optimize workflows around AI scoring, configuration, and automation
• Collaborate with AI/ML stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient backend integration
• Design and own backend architecture, making high-impact technical decisions that support long-term scalability
• Act as a senior technical contributor, accelerating the team through:
  – high-quality Pull Requests (PRs)
  – code reviews and architectural guidance
  – setting best practices and standards
• Take ownership of complex technical problems, from design through production
• Improve existing systems by refactoring, reducing technical debt, and modernizing legacy components
• Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and AI teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Ensure high code quality through testing, documentation, and clean architectural patterns
