Eventus Systems is looking to hire a highly capable Senior Data Engineer to join a dynamic, distributed team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Validus product, applying software development best practices using a variety of languages, tools and technologies.

Validus processes billions of records a day for a variety of financial institutions and provides trade surveillance, monitoring, and analysis capabilities to improve the overall health, robustness, and transparency of financial markets.

Data Engineer Responsibilities:

  • You will help us improve our primary product offering Validus by developing, maintaining, and improving complex data-driven analysis components with focus on high volume data analysis tasks using Python, SQL, and PL/SQL
  • You will help refine testing infrastructure and write automated tests
  • You will work closely with the operations team to assist with debugging and remediating live production issues, with an emphasis on incorporating relevant improvements back into the product and continuous process improvement
  • You will work closely with the product team to understand and refine feature specifications

Data Engineer Requirements:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • You have 5+ years of experience solving complex problems with sophisticated, data-driven, performant software applications
  • Domain experience in trading/finance is a plus but not required
  • You are adept at writing excellent code in at least a few languages (Python)
  • You are experienced working with relational databases and have a solid understanding of SQL including SQL analytic functions and relational database concepts
  • You are comfortable working with and analyzing very large data sets
  • You have experience using Linux and are comfortable and effective working in a shell environment
  • You have experience working with git or similar source code management systems
  • You are able to work effectively remotely
  • You are able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • You have excellent communication and task management skills
