Job Details

We are looking for an engineer who is strong in TDD, Ruby, JS, SQL, and CSS. At this position you will also be working with Hotwire & Stimulus (previous experience is not required).

Strong English speaking and writing skills are also required. Our software engineers must make decisions on their own without being told detailed specs. (We are not looking for a code monkey.)

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  1. Build exciting new features in CRM, payments, and social networking.
  2. Enforce well-written tests and clean code.
  3. Help review, test, and merge Pull Requests.
  4. Have strong ES6 javascript and CSS skills. We currently DON’T use FE frameworks like React.
  5. Quickly fix and deploy urgent bugs.
  6. Help customer support agents with technical questions.
  7. Strong self-management, teamwork, and communication skills.
  8. Must think independently without detailed, guided instruction. There are no code monkeys in our company — we are all software professionals. We value picking up tasks on your own without product managers asking.

Work Culture

As a fully-distributed team, we value trust and communication. Our team also believes in prioritizing and working smart instead of working crazy hours. Our engineers work 40 – 45 hours a week max, with no weekend work (unless special circumstances arise).

History

Donorbox was founded in San Francisco in 2014 and currently has 60 team members in 7 states and 14 countries. We are a small, motivated company that is trying to help the world significantly. We want to build the best online donation experience for supporters as well as the best donor management tools to help nonprofits operate more efficiently. This year, we plan to work on Card Reader, CRM, and cutting edge payment methods.
